Business

Today was a day of appointments that seemed to go on endlessly and didn't end until 6pm. However, everything needed to be done. It's nice to say that I am retired but at times that is not completely so and it definitely isn't true of my wife. We later had dinner with a friend in a nice Chinese Restaurant that Jack Palance really liked before he passed on. I saw him there with a friend one day a few years ago.

Like I said in another article coming to Santa Barbara now reminds me of all the people we have lost in the last 10 years now. But, hopefully all that will change over time. I also like to drive out on the pier and walk out to the end and eat in some of the restaurants on the pier. Also, in the past, I have rented Jet Skis and gone out on the ocean. However, a year or so ago my wife and I rented a jet ski on Lake Tahoe during a rain and lightning storm there and when we hit a large boat wake it turned us over and I found it much harder than it used to be to get back on the thing and get my wife back on as well. So, I'm giving 2nd thoughts to riding a jet ski with my wife at least again in case something or other knocks us off again. (especially since she just had a knee replacement last June).

I remember my older daughter's boyfriend driving one with his girlfriend my older daughter right behind, then behind her my younger daughter's friend and then last my younger daughter. But then, I saw my youngest daughter not hold on strong enough when they jumped over a wave on Lake Tahoe and suddenly my youngest daughter was flying through the air parallel to the water at high speed.

This didn't look like much fun at that speed but she was a good sport about it.

Anyway, it is turning out to be an okay weekend because we invited our friend down to share Santa Barbara with us because it is always fun to introduce someone new to places like Santa Barbara, San Diego, L.A. county, Orange County or Disneyland.

Last year we discovered how nice it was to go to Disneyland with just the wife and I and do exactly what we wanted there without 1 or more of our kids. It is an entirely different kind of experience than with kids or grandkids.
