I saw it to the north as I parked my truck at Sacramento Airport to pick up my daughter who had flown there to meet me to go north. As we got closer to Williams it got thicker and I realized most of it was from the Clear Lake fire (Rocky Fire) but the way the smoke looked it might be on it's way to being out soon. Then as I neared Redding the smoke was thicker and was blotting out the sun but still high enough in the sky not to make me cough. In Mt. Shasta City it was so thick you can't see Mt. Shasta at all and only the foothills and trees next to it. You couldn't see Mt. Eddy either though the girl at the desk of my hotel said it was going to start clearing up Saturday and Sunday. So, if you are heading to the Mt. Shasta area just be aware that there is a lot of high smoke in the Air but it doesn't seem to affect most people's breathing that much. But, just remember it's there if you come right now.
August and September there is usually smoke going somewhere between Southern ORegon, and Redding, California. It's just what happens in July through September most years around here from lightning or from people smoking or not putting out campfires or something like that.
My friend said the smoke in the Mt. Shasta area is from the Trinity Mountains about 50 miles to the south of here and blowing to the East and North I guess.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
