It's Hailing here on the northern California coast!

As I was blogging about the intense weather on the east and west coasts I hear this incredible noise and look out to see the hail coming down. Luckily both dogs had come inside from the back yard so I didn't have to worry about them. So, now my deck is completely covered in Hail!

The worst hail I have seen and been out in was on the trail between Bunny Flats and Horse Camp Sierra Club Emergency Lodge on Mt. Shasta. It was August and my friends and I and my older kids were walking back down from Horse Camp when all of a sudden very painful and cold Hail started falling out of the sky. It was so painful and cold that the only relief was to stand under trees against them to protect us from the onslaught. Also because it was August and likely hot in town we didn't have anything on but shorts, hiking boots and T-Shirts and hats for the sun and sunglasses that day. So, trying to stay warm and to protect our faces and bodies from the onslaught of hail was difficult but after about 20 minutes to a half an hour of hail it finally stopped and we were okay and not too worse for the wear and could then move on down the trail to our cars and trucks below at Bunny Flats.
