Movies that I would recommend after seeing them in 2017

My wife and I like to go to movies but we prefer comedies and adventure films and science fiction as long as they aren't too scary. For example, I liked: Valerian and the City of a Thousand planets. But, the really stand out movie of the year I think is nominated with 13 academy awards which is:
"The Shape of Water". This takes place in the early 1960s (which resembles a lot what the 50s were like too) on the east coast of the U.S. I believe. This movie is amazing because it brings your attention to just how pathetic lives mostly were in some ways in the 1950s and 1960s and how racist and homophobic things were then. And if you were different in any way from the "White Norm" you could easily wind up dead. I especially like the "Good Russian" juxtaposed from the "Bad American military men in this movie too. It shows that neither side was perfect which was exactly the way things actually were many times. People can be brave (and sometimes die for what they believe in) or people can be trapped by "doing what they are told" even when it is wrong. This is a study in how things were then with a creature worshiped by a God by a South American Tribe thrown into the mix. Here are some of the other good movies of 2017 and I'm sure there are many more than I've listed here so far. I think you can click on each picture to find out more about each one. I tried it actually if you click on the words of each movie it will take you to someone else's opinion of the best movies of 2017. And these are there too.
