If The Republicans and Democrats are actually getting a divorce?

What will become of all of us if there is no compromise. I'm okay but if I worked for the government right now I would be really pissed, especially if I was being evicted and I was pregnant and married to a government employee who wasn't getting paid or my Obamacare wasn't being paid for either.

So, the craziness of the world is definitely of a different sort than when I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s. I was 21 in 1969 and then boys my age worried the most about being drafted which is how a whole generation of girls and boys got so overeducated with Bachelor's, Master's and PHd's. Now the craziness is more like World War II where millions (about 100 million people were killed) mostly civilians. I think of the 900,000 Americans that died in World War II 500,000 of them were civilians likely killed in foreign countries that they were visiting or living in when they were killed.

So, we are definitely in a different place than that now. So, people who work for the government are getting evicted and starving but that's a lot different than being murdered like in World War II or being drafted against your will at 17 or 18 and hauled off to Viet Nam without your consent and dying when you really had no idea what was happening to you straight out of high school.

Every generation has it murderous insanity to deal with but luckily now it's Trump who is causing people to die and not a foreign country (unless it is Putin behind all this).

So, on some levels I prefer today's insanity to World war I and II and the Viet Nam war where people we knew came home (50,000 of them) in coffins with flags draped over them. 400,000 of them after World War II. (not including the civilians).

However, our country actually survived World War I and II and the Viet Nam war.

I have much less confidence in our democracy surviving Trump and Putin. But I could be wrong.

I hope so.
