A friend of mine was telling me that everyone he served with in McMurdo was now dead from radiation poisoning and that he is the only one still alive who worked there during the time he was there still.

I think what happened is there was a nuclear power plant that was shut down but there wasn't enough radiation remediation which caused an incredible amount of people to die since then. I think he was stationed there in the 1970s or 1980s. So, what he told me was he was the last one still alive who worked there with his group.
