Proponents of hybrid war choose not to fight to Western strengths. This sometimes causes outrage amongst our politicians, but is common sense and sound military strategy.

It's quite logical really. Why should Russia or Iran use battleships, submarines or nuclear weapons when they can elect someone inept like Trump to destroy western democracies?
The fact that this upsets people here in the U.S. just means that it's successful and no real strategy has been found to protect western Democracies from these insidious attacks yet except financial sanctions against Russia and Iran and other countries like North Korea. But, in the end all countries are harmed by these actions whether they are sanctions or the undermining of democratic systems of government over the long haul. What will the end result be?
That is hard to say right now, ask me in 10 or 20 years.
