And is this a part of Earthing? I would have to say "Yes" it is. It is a very ancient way to be grounded into the earth so you can help more people with whatever you are doing here on earth.
For example, wearing leather or rubber souls insulates you from the energies of the earth and could cause confusion or fear inside of you. However, if where you live it isn't safe to go barefoot that becomes a problem too. But, if you are never in a place safe enough to go barefoot why are you living there? Because living in such a place can only shorten your lives. Not being able to go barefoot just tells me you live some place not safe enough for you to stay alive to old age very easily.
