Storm coming into Mt. Shasta today and tomorrow

The weather report says light rain today and heavy snow tomorrow  at various elevations. One reason I'm being a little vague about the elevations is here in town the low is about 34 degrees today which means snow might come down but won't stick unless it hits snow already on the ground. Since there are piles of snow 4 to 6 feet deep in the middle of all streets in Mt. Shasta already this may or may not be more of a problem. But, having 10 degree warmer weather is nice because black ice is less of a problem at night than it was. I had to work not to fall walking around outside at night  the last couple of nights up here on the black ice. Driving was easier as long as you knew where the black ice was. Tomorrow the temperature range is 39 degrees down to 32 degrees for a low. Today is 41 and 34. So, you can see what I mean. But, the biggest part of the storm hits tomorrow with light rain today and snow expected more tomorrow with snow levels dropping as this thing progresses. They expect some snow or rain in town every day through at least next Monday now. So, if you are driving up here be prepared for anything. There is still snow on all the roofs (that haven't been shoveled of at least 1 foot  or more, snow on many streets that weren't plowed. All the major thoroughfares have been plowed and most hotel parking lots have been plowed somewhat with big piles of snow on all the major roads around Mt. Shasta in the center piled up 4 to 6 feet high that will melt when the sun comes out or the temperatures raise enough above freezing.

However, the road (Everitt Memorial Highway) was only open up as far as Macbride springs until yesterday. Now they have plowed it and opened the gates as far as Bunny Flats which is at around 6900 feet on Mt. Shasta. My friend and his girlfriend skied Bunny Flat to lower Sand Flat road where it meets Everitt Memorial highway yesterday when it opened. So, they and others likely have tracked that route so it likely will be less work if you want to ski it on Mountaineering skis with metal edges.
