The primary Goal of Russian intelligence is not to elect Trump. That is only Secondary in nature. The primary Goal would be to sow so much chaos and distrust among all parties that there would be chaos and violence in the streets. The basic idea is "Divide and Conquer". So, when things become really chaotic they can try to take over completely the government of the U.S. But, remember Putin is very very angry and wants revenge on the U.S. for the Collapse of the Soviet Union too. So, however he can torture present day U.S. for the collapse of his beloved Soviet Union that he grew up serving he will do. So, Trump is ONLY a means to collapsing the U.S. government completely and turning it into something chaotic as the worst banana Republic in the history of Earth.
So, the end of the "rule of Law" would make Putin Happy. Violence in the Streets would make Putin Happy. Turning whites and blacks into groups that kill each other in revenge killings would make Putin happy. Creating a French revolution where the rich were killed by the poor and middle class would make Putin happy.
In other words once the "rule of law" is gone almost anything can and will happen because the people won't put up with no real justice beyond a certain point without resorting to violence in the streets.
So, the end result of what Barr and Trump are now doing ending "rule of Law" is naturally violence in the streets and riots.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
