Yes. The more you know the better you are protected from abuse from around the world of all kinds online. For example, I have NEVER trusted Facebook from the beginning simply because of what I knew about it. Most things online that are free aren't really free.
What I write is free because this is coming from God through me to you as a blessing in your lives. But, most stuff on the Internet isn't like this.
You have to ask yourself: "Why is this stuff on the Internet?" Whatever it is. And Why is it free?
If you can answer these questions to your satisfaction then maybe just maybe it's safe enough for you to visit. Otherwise, No!
