In the Arctic and Antarctic regions it is common for the Magnetosphere to be anywhere from Zero percent of normal to 10% of normal. (Normal being 100% before the year 2000).
But, normal now is between zero and 10% since around 2000 AD in the arctic and antarctic circles. This causes genetic mutations slowly of all life above about 50 feet deep in the ocean or 10 feet underground. So, this is happening continuously to some degree or another now above the Arctic Circle since around 2000 and the same for below the Antarctic Circle.
The only thing that protects us from Cosmic rays and the genetic mutations and sterilizations they create on some mammals is the magnetosphere around the earth.
