Because people in meat packing plants don't want to die and neither would you so most won't work even if the president says they won't get any benefits like unemployment insurance if they don't work in the plants. It's better to be alive and not have much food than to die basically
So, if people want to continue to eat meat they are going to have to buy animals to slaughter themselves from pig and cattle ranches around the country. Many people already do this that are hunters that hunt Deer and Elk and wild boar around the country already who know how to do this effectively.
So, if people want to continue to eat meat this is what they might have to do to learn how to do this if they don't already.
However, if you have ever seen this done it also might turn you into a vegetarian.
I remember being 5 years old and my neighbor beheaded a rooster with a hatchet next door and the rooster ran around squirting blood out it's neck until it went into death convulsions. If I wasn't already being raised a lacto ovo vegetarian that would have made me one even at 5 years old then in El Cajon, California.
Lacto ovo just means you also eat milk and egg products which is how vegetarians often are in India.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
