Marmots are cute but much bigger than squirrels so be careful around them

I saw this picture of a boy pretty close to a marmot but just like Squirrels in the U.S. often carry bubonic plaque it's possible that marmots do too. So, you really don't want your kids or you bitten by a marmot. They usually are about 5 to 10 times bigger than any squirrel I have seen so if they bite someone they might do a lot of damage. And also they often gather in clans like monkeys and even though they are smaller than raccoons which also often gather in clans to attack small animals or pets I wouldn't trust marmots too much even though they often behave more like huge squirrels more than anything else. All I'm saying is squirrels often carry plague and these things might too.

For example, where I live on the coast at least once a year a lady is walking her dog or dogs at night and gets attacked by a clan of raccoons because they are trying to eat the lady's poodles or something. But, they aren't threatened by a little old lady with her pets and often the pets die and are eaten and the little old lady is in the hospital if she survives this at all. So, this can be a problem when women walk their small pets at night that are seen as fair game for raccoons. I'm not sure how marmots would be in a situation like this but nevertheless they are wild and should be respected as all wild things should. Because otherwise people get injured.

In regard to raccoons they are nocturnal and mostly only come out at night unless they are in some kind of emergency situation. So, ladies usually are safe Walking their small pets until dusk or dark here in California.

Raccoons won't usually attack a full grown male human and a big dog though even at night here in California.
