What is enlightenment? It's different for each person

When I was 15 to 17 years old and decided that I wanted to Attain enlightenment in this lifetime what I thought enlightenment was wasn't at all what it really is. And beyond that everyone's enlightenment is different.

What do I mean by this?

I think the easiest way to talk about this would be to share how many different types of people there are on earth. Some are lawyers, some are dentists, some are business people, some are trades people, some are artists, some are musicians and singers etc.

So, each of these trades or abilities could be a form of enlightenment in itself and likely will be for that particular person going down that path.

So, understanding that enlightenment for one person isn't at all what enlightenment is for another is how one starts down the path towards enlightenment in one's life.

The best way I can say this would be: "The more you know regarding any field of endeavor the more enlightened you will be in that field of endeavor in all your thoughts and actions."

Does getting a college degree help you become enlightened?

It depends upon your motivations and how you allow your self to train yourself along the way. I found at points while I was studying in college that some thought processes I was being taught were counterproductive to becoming enlightened in this lifetime.

Whenever I experienced this I often took a break from college to regroup and find a better way forward because I didn't want to train my mind in a way that would be counter to becoming enlightened because becoming enlightened was my goal and not just getting a college degree.

The best way I can say what I mean is this: "A College degree is like a hammer. You can either build yourself a house with it or knock a hole in your own skull with it" Your choice.

So, which is your college degree going to do to your life? Will it help you or will it destroy you?

This is the question.

Having common sense sort of is imperative BEFORE you go to college and get yourself a degree if you want to be safe about all this.
