IF cars were turned over from the blast this would mean any people in the area would be thrown through the air

The type of force of a blast like this is a lot like a tornado in that people are going to be blown away across streets into fences up against buildings and the closer to the blast they were the less likely they would survive all this. If the blast was blowing out windows and doors of homes 6 miles away then they are going to be finding people bleeding in their homes and offices if they haven't died of blood loss already for some time now from shards of broken glass piercing them in various places.

So, locals need to be going into every room in every home or business to see who is dead or injured at least 6 miles in a circle around this blast.
