My wife is a very social and outgoing person and she draws people to her by communicating a lot. I have noticed how many people are now coming to Mt. Shasta to heal themselves from the cares of the world, especially coronavirus PTSD which everyone on earth is now dealing with because of all the deaths and potential deaths worldwide now.
It is sort of like a never ending nightmare everyone is dealing with changing everyone's lives in every imaginable way very much like World War II and the Great Depression also did.
My wife and I used an electric pump the other day to inflate our Sevylor inflatable kayak and a friend of mine also used my 12 volt pump to inflate his Sevylor kayak too. It was a hot day and the altitude and the heat of 88 degrees my truck registered seemed to make me a little light headed so I had to be careful of staying upright. Though launching the boat was okay for me my wife has a knee replacement and couldn't walk down the asphalted boat ramp unaided and didn't want to. So, there are other points people can launch themselves and their boats into the water from Castle Lake so I told her to go to a more gradual entry point 1/2 block away from this one. I was feeling pretty light headed when we launched the boat so I decided not to get into the boat and instead put the paddle into the boat and grabbed a handle on the front of the boat and swam alongside of the boat to cool down over to where my wife was waiting to be picked up. The two side air channels were fully filled with air but because of the heat had trouble filling the bottom channels with air so we ONLY had the side channels filled which usually means that even though you won't sink you aren't going to go very fast without your bottom channels filled with air.
When I found her she was uncomfortable of some of the rocks there so I found her a sandy channel to walk out into the water. Then I showed her how to sit down sideways and then swing her legs onto the boat. However, remember my wife is a heavy weather sea sailor so she is really good with boats even though now she is 65 years old this month (I'm 72). So, she got in okay and then it was my turn. I usually have gotten in in a different style but because I'm getting older now found that didn't work so I too got in her way from the side.
However, the problem was without the bottom channels filled with air and me laying down I realized because I'm 6 foot 5 inches tall that trying to sit up to navigate the boat would likely sink it. I told her this and she asked for the paddle.
However, it was an incredibly beautiful day and I looked up into the sky to see amazing clouds and we heard thunder. My wife is afraid of lightning and thunder especially on the water and I am not. So, she wanted to get out of the water and I said to her: "You see those trees and the rocks up there?" She said: "Yes" and I said,"That's where the lightning would hit not here on the lake. It's going to hit the high point because we are here in the mountains." This calmed her down enough to once again enjoy being on the lake. I stayed laying back realizing that I wasn't going all the way to the other end of the lake which gives the name Castle from the amazing rock formations on the back of the lake toward Hart Lake which is higher than Castle but tiny in a little cleft of the rocks to the left.
So, we both watched the beautiful thunderheads and the dragonflies eating May Flies (which at the time my wife thought were huge mosquitos) but my friend who lives up here told me they were May flies. He also said that may flies when they are in their flying evolution have no mouth or digestive system at all, only sexual organs to mate.
He also said that in evolution may flies were the very first flying creature on earth which is likely why they have no mouth or digestive system when they fly and only mating organs to reproduce. So, they are the most ancient flyer on earth.
So, we watched the big dragonflies eat the May flies in the air while listening to thunder in the distance and enjoying greatly the coolness of the water as I dragged my legs outside of the boat to stay cool in the 88 degree Fahrenheit weather outside.
A Beautiful healing Day!
