My Father flew in one of these from 1934 to 1937 in the Marine Air Corp. reserves on Weekends in Seattle. He was 18 in 1934

This is from Wikipedia. Although I think my father's U.S. Marine Corps Hellcat Biplane was painted Yellow this likely is how he dressed as a gunner on the biplane from 1934 to 1937 in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves in Seattle, Washington. He mentioned that you sat on your parachute while flying in the plane. I think the seat was metal so your parachute was your cushion. The pilot here is wearing his early parachute by the way.
