It's raining Cats and Dogs Here

Our dog is upset she can't go outside more in the rain but other than that we are surviving just fine. But, areas around us are suffering more and more. We have a French Drain to keep the water from turning into a lake under our home. During the Winters when it rains a spring of water is also on our land so to keep a lake from forming under out home we have a French drain on the upper hill side of our home that goes all the way around our house to the front yard and into the street. Actually we have two French Drains one was put in about 20 years ago and a newer one that is bigger and wider put in by landscapers in the last couple of years so we should be fine. However, River Road is a real mess and they likely are going to be digging out of that area and wading through mud with Back hoes and other excavating equipment to try to reclaim land destroyed by the ongoing mud slides in that area caused by the burn area of River Fire washing the mud, rock and boulders down onto their properties. There are many problems that are getting worse by the day now over several counties.

However, it's also true that we desperately need the rain it's just sad all the people's properties that are being destroyed now and may or may not be able to be reclaimed in the next 6 months or so and all the homes being damaged by mud knocking them partially or completely down in the area.

The HOSE or (Atmospheric Rivers) are getting pretty serious here in Central Coastal California. I haven't seen anything this serious since about 1995 when a bridge on Highway 1 was washed several miles into the ocean. It's amazing what mother nature can do when she wants to to a cement and metal bridge that big!

I think Big Sur didn't get the 16 inches but will get likely between 10 and 13 inches of rain instead but that is still going to destroy a lot of homes and property and likely close Highway 1 through the Big Sur area for 3 to 6 months time!
