In 2011 I bought my first 6 passenger truck

I had wanted a Tacoma but found because I was 6 foot 5 inches tall and 1/2 Scottish that my legs didn't even fit under the steering wheel of a Tacoma so I was pretty disappointed. Meanwhile my wife saw a full size Tundra that she said had a small V-8 and got 20 mpg on the road with a 6 speed transmission and 2 range 4 wheel drive next to the Tacoma I was sitting in. We decided to buy the Tundra because it reminded her of her 1989 4Runner she had when we got together. She bought her 4Runner for going deep into Saline Valley near Death Valley to camp with friends before me. I told her her tires were really too off road to be fully safe on a freeway as she had the most off road tires on her 4runner I had ever seen. So, when we got together I put a set of all weather Michelin tires on her 4 runner so I felt safer going 70 or 80 on the freeways in it.

But, we rebuilt the upper end of her 1989 4runner eventually so we kept it a long time but eventually the bottom end went out on it and the main bearing froze and that was it unless we wanted to stick a fully rebuilt engine into it.

So, this 2011 Tundra was the same color as her 4runner and she got immediately attached to us buying this 20 mpg 6 speed 2 range 4 wheel drive Tundra. In fact, I'm still driving it because it is a really amazing truck with the smoothest ride of any truck I have ever ridden in and yet will go literally anywhere off road too especially in low range 4 wheel drive at about 1/2 mile an hour or less over literally anything including road 2 feet high rocks through streams and rivers in the western U.S. mountains and deserts. So, like the 1989 4runner this is a very special off road vehicle which is also great on the open highways mileage wise too.

And in this Tundra we bought I'm as comfortable as I would be in a Mercedes which is also built for tall people too and great for long drives of 400 to 1000 miles or more too because of it's great ride.
