The fire, named the Willow Fire, started Thursday evening west of the Arroyo Seco Campgrounds and south of the Tassajara Zen Center. In total, 100 homes and 25 commercial buildings are threatened by the fire.

Los Padres National Forest PAO Thanh Nguyen said the firefight on Sunday was "a little more intense on the southeast corner. It's burning towards the Arroyo Seco ground." Nguyen said the dry conditions intensified the fire.

Nguyen said that firefighters were anticipating increased fire activity and "spent a lot of effort to prepare for structure defense" by creating defense lines around the campground and other structures nearby.

An estimated 450 people are responding to the fire.

Because the location of the fire is in steep terrain, the Monterey Ranger District said they are going to attack the fire indirectly through the air. Nguyen said they are still strategizing how to attack the fire on the ground.
