Everything you learn in life can catapult you forward in amazing ways. My parents who were Christian Mystic Ministers of a Church in Los Angeles from 1954 to 1960 (when I was a child) taught me: "What you put your attention on you become."
So, I learned to be careful what I thought about in life. This has always served me well.
I was always very gifted like my mother intuitively and I learned over time how to use this to help myself and others in life to survive and prosper in all ways.
Enlightenment is important because Enlightenment gives you peace potentially 24 hours a day.
Why?
Because you realize that physical bodies are mostly temporary but your soul is immortal and has always existed. So, you feel peace in understanding all this so death loses it's sting.
It doesn't mean you don't feel pain in life it just means you know that the pain is not ultimately real. It's like when you stub your toe on a chair or table or something it hurts but you know the pain is temporary.
Pain has a beginning and ending. The worst pain is not physical pain but the pain of a soul if it is confused.
So, becoming enlightened step by step along the way you become less confused and more enlightened and awake every single day of your life.
And you find that your peace and enlightenment is very very helpful to all others around you because your calmness and enlightened state helps everyone you know too.
