This is really cold for noon on almost any day here on the Coast near SF. So, there likely is snow on the mountains around this area like the coastal range and the Santa Lucias further south.
I woke up to rain on the roof once again this morning and my dog is getting grouchy because we don't go outside and play ball as much as before because it's been raining so much. But, I got out yesterday with her and walked along the beach but the waves were pretty rough and I had to watch out for sneaker waves that come up much further than the regular ones.
If you aren't used to walking near the beach during a storm you shouldn't do it unless you understand what sneaker waves can actually do.
One time I was just standing on a 3 foot high rock and a sneaker wave came up to between my knees and my waist (and I was already standing at least 3 feet above the beach on a rock. I think this surprised me even more than getting caught off guard with a wave up to my waist when I was 50 to 100 feet from the ocean. So, unless you know what sneaker waves can do in storms don't walk along beaches in California because you can be swept out to sea before you know it and you only will last less than 10 minutes because of hypothermia in water as cold as it is this year. So, stay away from the ocean during storms unless you know how to read the ocean and what it's going to do next during a storm.
