I see the climate fight as being a different thing than most people tend to

First of all trying to go all electric creates it's own problems in a major way.

What is the major problem of going electric?

The Batteries will pollute incredibly wherever they are put. 

I suppose you could put them deep into a salt mine thousands of feet under the earth.

But, the batteries are really a problem if they are put anywhere near where you grow food or get into the ocean.

So, batteries are incredibly deadly and polluting unless we find a way to recycle them some how so they are reused like Tesla re-uses Spaceships. Then it might work. 

Batteries are almost the problem that Nuclear Waste is when people want to send the nuclear waste into the sun. Sending nuclear waste into the sun would be incredibly expensive by the way (at least now it would).

If you could get it above earth's atmosphere and into space inexpensively (nuclear waste) then it would be relatively easy to make it over time fall into the sun

The Sun is basically a naturally occurring nuclear weapon in that it is a constantly occurring Hydrogen bomb millions of years old. It is a naturally occurring fusion bomb constantly. That's what Stars really are in all Galaxies.
