You could have asked the same question during World War I and World War II and even though parts of society were being blown apart with millions of deaths most of the world was just going to have to try to regroup.
I think we need to compare Covid to World War I to World War II and to the 1918 Spanish Flu Outbreak for 2 years (at least at this point). So, whether you are dealing with a pandemic or a World War millions of people are going to die either way over a period of 1 or more years and the chaos that happens worldwide.
So, Is Society coming Apart? No. It's trying to figure out what to do regarding so many deaths and chaos worldwide.
Today I was watching CNN regarding the 800,000 people semi permanently flooded out of their homes since August. Because of Global Climate change it looks like where they live it will becoming a more permanent Lake over time, say the next 5 to 10 years at least. So, whole cities of 800,000 people in that area are underwater ongoing for years any way you look at it and children are dying there of Waterborn diseases at the highest rate since 1960.
