Now doesn't seem to be a good time to become a nurse (unless of course you have a death wish)

My son and his wife studied to become nurses and he graduated with honors from a CSU in southern California around 2010. But, my son decided he wanted to go teach English in South Korea instead around that time. I wondered at this choice then but after his divorce it made more sense. He met his next wife while teaching in South Korea and now they have a son and live in Oregon.

I'm forever grateful right now that my son is not working as a nurse (even though his ex is a nurse and has been one since they both graduated).

So, my point of view is that "Trying to become a nurse now is sort of like joining the Army to go fight on the front lines in Viet Nam  in the 1960s and 1970s."

In other words if you don't die of Covid you likely are going to have PTSD in a serious way from being a nurse right now the rest of your life watching everyone die on a daily basis.

I know it might be selfish or an act of Long Term Self Preservation to think this way but this is my point of view looking at all this from being in my 70s now.
