My choice would be different than this, however, but this is one way to go to have edible nutritious food whether you go to the store during an emergency or not.
When I owned 2 1/2 acres of land in Mt. Shasta sometimes we would get snowed in by 7 feet or more of snow for a few weeks until it melted enough or got plowed so we could get out. Since in the 1980s Solar power wasn't as practical as it is now we didn't have solar power or even a gas powered generator that we used for power. Instead we had Aladdin Kerosene lamps for light, two wood stoves, one for heat and one for cooking with a built in oven. It was sort of an antique but it still worked great.
We bought food in bulk from a local health food store called Pine Grove then which is now Berryvale in Mt. Shasta. But, we bought organic brown rice and whole wheat pasta and a bucket of Peanut butter that was usually around 10 to 25 pounds and containers of maple syrup and whole wheat flour to make pancakes and to bake our own bread. So, we would have everything we needed to make it through being snowed in for a few weeks at a time during winters then in the early 1980s. Then when we could get out we would go to Mt. Shasta city to get perishable foods where it was less expensive about 25 or 30 miles away from our house and land.
However, the following are different kinds of survival food that some people buy in order to make it through crises like we might be facing the next few months here in the U.S.
