First of all, most Buddhists would consider Christ to be a Buddha in addition to being Christ. This might be important to start with.
Second, because God is not associated with the way people in Buddhism communicate it is thought by most Christian theologians that Buddhism is not considered to be a religion but more like a philosophy sort of the way Hatha Yoga is not a religion but a medical philosophy or how accupuncture is not a religion but a health philosophy and practice of medicine. So, likewise Buddhism is thought of more as a medicine to heal people than a religion like Chrisitanity by Christian Theologians around the world.
As a result many Christian Ministers and Priests also practice Buddhism for the same reasons that people practice Hatha Yoga or Accupuncture who are also Christians.
Buddhism in all it's forms is a very humanistic and logical and scientific practice which leads to a higher form of civilization than we see presently manifest most places on earth.
So, in this sense it is very compatible with all the highest tenets of Christianity.
