Friends of mine who live in Mt. Shasta said they went up to Medford, Oregon on Business. His son lives and works near Ashland, Oregon which is right next to Medford. When they finally wanted to drive home they found Interstate 5 closed to through traffic and wondered what to do. So, since they have a great all wheel drive car they decided to take old 99 which wasn't closed (at least yet). However, as they drove along there were about 100 cars stuck in the snow some sideways. Hopefully, all those people made it out of there alive. However, my friends finally made it through to Mt. Shasta and home successfully because they have a great all wheel drive car so they didn't get stuck in the snow.
I thought I would also tell you that I-80 over the Lake Tahoe area and through the Sierras is also closed still with no firm reopening time.
