It's not necessary for the human race to go extinct. Why?

 Because our ancestors already extincted themselves and the planet Maldek which is now the asteroid belt out past Mars. So, not only did they nuke the planet Maldek into an asteroid belt 65 million years ago they also because of pieces of the planet (now asteroids) hit Mars and blew most of the atmosphere off of Mars and so it killed most of our ancestors there too. So, the poorer ones came to earth because they couldn't afford passage to other Solar systems where humans originated from when they colonized the Solar System.

So, the point is "We don't have to go extinct like our ancestors did unless we are total Fools!"

Because we are the children of the military leaders and religious and governmental people who survived all this in lifeboats as they watched everyone else die on Maldek and most also die on Mars as pieces of the asteroids hit Mars and blew off most of it's atmosphere. So, the survivors of Maldek and Mars who were poorer came to earth with the blessings of the Galactic Sentience who is the ruler of the Galaxy.

But, then and now for about 1 million years (or more) earth has been a Galactic Park. So, you could call earth "Earth Galactic Park". And we at this point are sort of like the deer in Yosemite or Yellowstone or the Tetons and I guess we need to be thinned out before we destroy the ecology here of the park any further.

So, it's not necessary for humans to go extinct but I do think we might be being thinned out so we don't destroy the ecology of earth completely.
