I woke up to a wet veranda and nearby roofs this morning. So, it was a good night not to be camping and to have a room indoors somewhere. However, it is much warmer this morning as it is already 56 degrees at 7 AM as I write this. Though there were fireworks at Lake Siskiyou last night around 9:30 or 10 pm my wife and I decided not to go because it was fairly cold out last night and usually it is about 80 degrees or more during fireworks at the lake usually most years. Also, the traffic and trying to find a parking place and all that we really didn't want to have to deal with this year after already traveling over a month now. We really are ready to go home soon now after a month out on the road traveling.
Yesterday was nice to see friends playing music for the marathon runners and walkers here in Mt .Shasta. There were many musical acts along the run-walk path through town.
It would be difficult to find a place to park so we walked the 6 blocks (around 1/2 mile) to where we could see the runners. Also, we signed up as walkers and bought T-shirts and walking or running numbers to wear as well even though it was cold enough to wear a ski jacket that early in the morning on the 4th.
Happy 4th of July everyone! I heard from friends all over the country and where they were for the 4th.
Happy Independence Day!
It has been really nice to have a warm hotel room the last few nights here in Mt. Shasta so we are really grateful not to be out camping in the rain every night since Saturday night when all the rain and lightning and thunder first started.
I camped a lot in the rain and snow various places, especially in my 20s and 30s so now in my 70s I really appreciate being warm and cozy inside when it rains and snows now. There is a little frosting of snow on Mt. Shasta when the clouds move off the mountain but right now the mountain is completely covered by clouds.
