Renting an Electric Vehicle and the problems it caused my daughter and husband

They were trying to go to a wedding in the Alps of my Son in Laws brother. So, they rented a car (because it's not necessary most places in Europe to own a car because of good mass transit. So, they rented a car but because he was the last customer that day when he got off work they gave him a luxury Electric Vehicle. Now, the vehicle was beautiful and comfortable to ride in. BUT, if you aren't used to knowing what to do in Europe if you rent an electric Vehicle this can be a problem regarding recharging. If you are in a large city like where they rented this vehicle you might be okay. However, he wanted to visit his parents who live in a Alpine Ski Resort where his brother who is a doctor was getting married that next day. The problem was my daughter had just had a baby daughter less than a week before. So, they didn't get on the road until 8 pm for the normally 5 hour drive.

Guess what time the three of them got to their destination 5 AM so their 5 hour drive had turned into a 10 hour nightmare. So, traffic was not the problem. The problem was that the charging stations didn't all accept the APP on your phone which allows you to recharge your vehicle.

Also, they said that depending upon where you were charging your vehicle it could take 3 hours or 3/4 of an hour depending upon where you recharged because of different voltages at different places.

So, to make a long story short they will NEVER Rent another electric Vehicle for traveling home to his parents in the Alps ever again after this experience.

It would be much better to take a train or a bus after an experience like this except for the fact that the baby crying might upset people on the train or bus.

Another reason why I don't want to own an all electric Vehicle. Even my Cousin who has a Tesla Model S All Electric all wheel drive (the really fast one) owns a hybrid Lexus for traveling north to the San Francisco Bay area to visit 2 of his children and their families.
