Many schools are closed because of Flooding in Northern California right now

So, from San Francisco to about Big Sur many schools had to close because of flooding. Winds are averaging 22 mph with gusts up to 60 or 70 mph too where I live on the NORCAL coast near San Francisco. Wind is presently coming out of the south and hitting our back yard sliding glass doors onto our back yard deck sideways. However, before it gets worse I'm thinking I want to take the dog to the beach. I have a rubber jacket so I can stay dry doing this even though the dog is going to get wet. My wife doesn't want us both washed away in a rogue wave (like 3 people in a past storm near Christmas were already) so I likely will have to walk our dog on a trail just above the ocean on a small cliff looking out to sea. I prefer walking along the beach but it's true with 20 to 30 foot waves that might not be safe especially near any streams heading out into the ocean from localized flooding right now.

There was a near power outage twice already and we heard of two towns nearby after that that have totally lost power. Luckily, at least so far we have kept the power on here so our Central heating system is still working. It's true we have a fireplace and a generator for emergencies but that only means we are warm enough in front of the fire place in the living room and not in the bathrooms or bedrooms.

So, by God's Grace the Power will stay on during this very intense series of storms. I'm really glad we are up on a hill and not in a flood plain right now.

Later after going to the beach with our dog and walking along the beach:

Yes. There is definitely more water going down streams than I have seen this  entire rainy season so far. Streams either dry usually most of the year or at most 6 inches to 1 foot wide are now 30 foot wide torrents heading into the ocean. Luckily, I went down to the beach and got to see all this which was pretty remarkable too. At least 5 vertical feet of beach sand has been washed out to sea in the water channel of the stream I was walking by. So, there is a literal cliff 3 to 5 feet high made of sand on either side of the river torrent going by right now because of the storms. Though there are two towns nearby us with no power at all we are still okay at least for now. When they went out it also caused us to have two episodes where it looked like we might lose power too. However, our power came back on so we are okay for now.
