When I look with the eyes of someone who already lived through the 1950s as a child all the way to today here in the U.S. and as someone who has lived in Seattle Washington where I was born and then San Diego and Los Angeles and now in the San Francisco Bay area and a few years on Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii over the years I have a different perspective than many of you younger people especially do regarding all of this.
Democracy in the U.S. has always been an experiment and we have been much more successful with Democracy (at least as an ideal than most other countries). However, I would say now that Canada's democracy is presently working better than ours has been the last 30 years or so.
For example, in Canada it is still possible to be poor and get rich. Though I suppose this could still happen in the U.S. mostly this is done by singers or actors in the entertainment business. So, this is mostly a fluke of poor people becoming rich in the U.S. Because without a decent education most people don't make it now. However, it is true that both Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were both college dropouts, Gates from Harvard and Jobs from Reed College in Oregon. So, if you get an opportunity for success it might be important to take that opportunity. I myself have realized that taking advantage of opportunities was always more important than a by rote college education too. Life is about opportunities in the end more than anything else and what you do with them (all kinds).
It's possible that there could be some good from what Musk and Trump are doing to our government. After all, "It's an ill wind that blows no good". And Descartes Famous Philosophical statement of "There is nothing so good that no bad may come of it and nothing so bad that no good may come of it."
I tend to see Trump as "There is nothing so bad that no good may come of it". I see Trump as a used Car salesman always trying to sell people Lemons (as in bad cars). So, at the best I see Trump as lying a lot to people.
However, it's also true that all politicians have to lie a lot to get elected (it just depends upon how much).
So, with Global Climate changes and Trump's "Drill Baby, Drill" you can see it is going to make a lot of people just die in the process worldwide (likely starting with the Palestinians). Whatever didn't already kill Palestinians living in Gaza (like the Israeli Army) Trump is sure to finish the rest of them off (just from homesickness more than anything else). Look at all the Indian Tribes in the U.S. and how decimated they became from people moving them away from their ancestral sacred Grounds. The same with Palestinians from Gaza forced to move to Jordan and Egypt against their wills.
And will Jordan and Egypt even accept them at all or just persecute them more as suspect them all of being Hamas? Jordan and Egypt want Hamas to cease to exist too by the way! They already have enough problems without Hamas coming into their countries.
