How I personally use the Scientific Method almost every day:

 I wake up and notice my wife isn't in bed because I tend to sleep later than she does because sometimes I cannot sleep between midnight and 2 to 4 am. So, if she isn't sleeping next to me I look for the dog who might be chewing a dried Sweet potato chew on the floor next to my bed.

What is my hypothesis of the morning? That my wife has taken the dog out to do her business and has brought her in an fed her and given her a sweet potato chew.

Is this a hypothesis or a Theory or a law?

It is likely more than a hypothesis but it is likely a theory because this is basically what my wife does every morning with our dog.

When would something become a law?

I might go out and start my car and if I start the car it is then running.

But, the law would be that this is a reciprocating engine run by gasoline. Though some of you run diesel or electric vehicles I don't own any of those right now. 

So, it is a law that I have started a Gasoline reciprocating engine in one of our vehicles. This is a law.

Whereas my wife having gotten up and taking the dog out to pee and feeding her and giving her a chew would be a theory at best until I actually ask my wife if this is exactly what she did. Then it would be a law that she did this. Because she tells me that she did this so this is true.

So, once she tells me she did this since I trust my wife to tell me the truth then it would be a law that she did this on this particular morning.
