the wind has picked up now to 18 miles per hour but the storm isn't until sometime between 7 and 9 pm tonight

So, the steady wind is at least 18 miles per hour while the gusts can be up to 50 mph or more. I have taken our deck chairs and put them where they cannot move around and break windows or sliding glass doors through at least 1 pm tomorrow (even though the rain is supposed to last off and on until next Wednesday.

Storms here in California are always a big deal because usually one or more people die in them because of what happens rain wise here in California. So, I'm writing here to help save lives in storms to come this week by informing people in California and elsewhere what is happening here. Other places get tornadoes or hurricanes more but in California it is fire and mudslides and 16 inches of rain in 3 days that tends to kill and maim people the most. So, being prepared for what rain does in extreme altitude changes like we have here a lot in California from all the mountains from 1000 feet to 14,000 feet is important to survival here in California. Then if mountains burn off and it rains then mudslides can be life threatening or problematic in multiple ways too.

Southern California always tends to be the most at risk for mudslides taking out homes because there is less vegetation in Southern California generally speaking especially when fires have occurred in the last year or two and haven't grown back yet for a variety of reasons.

Northern California (especially along the coast is more vulnerable to high winds off the ocean which brings down  trees and creates power outages of everyone who lives in or around all these forests in the coastal ranges or inland in the Sierras.

So, every area has it's own survival structure for weather and fires here in California. and with more rain coming down unexpectedly and more winds coming unexpectedly it makes both rain and fire much more dangerous everywhere in California than it was before.

People used to die in earthquakes a lot until the 2000s but Earthquakes haven't been as bad as I saw personally in the 20th Century especially the San Fernando Quake of 1971 where I thought we had been hit with a nuclear weapon it was so bad.

begin quotes regarding 1971 quake:
