Realistically, "How do you overcome a Supply Crunch of not enough places for people to live?

IN 1980 when unemployment was 10% nationwide and about 25% in Mt. Shasta then what we did was to buy inexpensive land with our savings for cash and then I and my father and friends built an A-Frame for my wife and three kids to live in for the next 5 years. This saved us I figure about 60,000 to 70,000 dollars in rent over the next 5 years. Of course what land cost then and what it costs now is very different.

However, another approach that might work now is to allow people to build something on your property of 2 1/2 acres or more with the idea that after they are gone that it would become the owners property. So, in this sense the person building their unit would have this unit as long as they live and then when they pass on it reverts to the owner of the property.

A friend who was a carpenter did something like this and several different people have lived in the unit he built which is quite well done after he died  and several people I have met have lived in this unit on the owners property ever since he died.

Also, the person building this unit pays for the material to build this too but makes an agreement with the owner of the land that they can live there until they die.

This is one way to allow people to have somewhere to live, especially out in the country away from big cities.

Also, under these circumstances it might be good for them to have an agreement to grow some food if the water and land is available and useful for that too.

Anyway, this is one way to solve the Supply crunch of places for people to actually live and not be homeless.

However, it might be somewhere that you actually want to live otherwise why would you stay there after you built your home or unit on this property?

This is just another thought in making sure people have somewhere to live nationwide.

Because if construction companies are not building enough housing for people, somebody has to so the whole nation doesn't become homeless.

Because being homeless is a magnet for crime and disease ongoing. So, making sure people have housing helps Everyone everywhere on earth.
