This is why when lightning strikes a plane everyone doesn't always die. However, often when this happens it shorts out everything electrical on board and the jet passenger jet might crash if this happens but the people likely would still be alive as the plane crashed which is strange too.
The same might be true with a car (not sure about this). But, if someone when an electric line 1000 volts is anywhere near the car on wet or snow ground if a person puts their foot out onto that ground it is possible that they would die of electrocution. (even though they might have been perfectly safe if they just stayed in their car because of the Faraday Cage and insulated by the Tires of the Car.
