By the way October is a good time to travel into Europe because it's not as hot as the summer
But, it also depends where you go. For example, when we stayed up in the Alps it was freezing or below every night but during the days it was 50s and 60s Fahrenheit usually. So, October might be more pleasant temperature wise in the Cote D'Azure (The Azure Sea) (French Riviera) or in the South of Italy because the Alps are going to be too cold to comfortably Camp unless you have a campfire this time of year. And it could snow one of those nights if you are camping too. So, plan ahead so your experience is a good one!
It got cold in Vienna too the first week (especially at night) we were there but there are amazing museums about the Hapsburg royal family and all sorts of amazing things to see and we rented a Horse and carriage one night with our kids and our grand daughter which took us through the most historic and amazing part of the town of Vienna which has been a Capitol of Austria for a long long time.
So, watch where you go where it's too cold at night to camp out somewhere even if you rent a car or a VW Camper van to stay in. Also, everything in Europe is very seasonal. It's not like the U.S. where things are always open year around too. So, be sure what you want to see is open this time of year.
