For me, Traveling the world has been mostly good. For example, even when I was 77 (I'm 78 now) I wanted to visit my oldest daughter who lives in Europe. So, we went to Vienna and Zell Am See to visit them and my son in laws family there. I was an amazing experience because I had driven into Innsbruck, Austria in 1999 with my then 10 year old daughter and her brother who was then 25 years old and traveling through Europe with his best friend who had just graduated UCSC with a physics degree. So, they had been traveling by Eurail Pass and staying mostly in Youth Hostels as a very cheap way to see Europe for several months. But, if you do this make sure you buy your Eurail passes in the U.S. because it will save you a lot of money. However, a Eurail pass doesn't work in England you need a Britrail pass for that. But a Eurail pass works over most of the EU Countries as far as I know because no one in the family has bought one that I know of for sure since 1999.
So, we rented this Motorhome when we (my daughter and mother and I) flew in From Scotland and London, England into Munich (which they call Muncheon) when you are there.
Then later when she grew up she met her present husband in Munich I believe at a healing conference there and then he was still studying to be a lawyer. They got married in 2019 in Oregon and the whole family was there for this and many friends from all over.
So, last fall, (2025) we decided my health was good enough to fly business class to Vienna direct from New York City. First we went to my wife's cousin's 2nd marriage in North Carolina in Boone, and then we flew to New York city and flew Business class to Vienna which worked for my health just fine. So, then we were able to spend 3 weeks with my daughter and our baby girl grand daughter which was wonderful once I adjusted to the Jet Lag which took me about a week at age 77.
This year the likely are flying over here to visit us and friends and relatives too so we are all really looking forward to that too.
So, is traveling a good thing?
I think as long as you understand that your kids might get the traveling bug too and not necessarily live where you live (in the same state or county or even the same country) you will be just fine.
Luckily, so far, we can afford to travel to visit our kids wherever they live but it's also true I'm now 78 years old. However, my health in some ways right now is actually better in most ways than it was when I was 37 years old. I'm not worried about finances like I was still in my 30s for example. So, the biggest thing is actually my health and my wife's health because she is 71 and I'm 78 this year so I'm almost to 80 within a year and a 1/2.
But, if you are happy to be alive because you are with the right person and you have enough to live and to travel to visit your kids (all over the earth) Life can still be good likely at age 80 also.
