We watched "Romancing the STone(1984) and Jewel of the Nile(1985) which were both hits in that era

I think after "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest that Michael Douglas produced this was more a labor of Love with Kathleen Turner (who he recently admitted he had an affair with at the time too).

Though his Father Kirk Douglas wanted the part Jack Nicholson played in One flew over the Cuckoo's nest (which changed how mental illness is treated now throughout the U.S. by the way a lot). Michael Doulas said telling his father he was too old for the part Jack Nicholson played and won an award for was the hardest thing in his life to deal with so far. Even when Kirk Douglas got very old he was still upset at Michael for not giving him this part in that movie.

Like I said before I could relate to the character Michael Douglas played in this movie (Romancing the Strone) because I met many people who thought this way who were traveling the world in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. So, in some ways I still see myself a little like Michael Douglas in this movie except that I never really did anything illegal like he was involved in in this movie. But, I still found ways to start traveling the world a lot after I was 37 years old and all my children became world travelers too both my biological children as well as my step children as well. I have 3 biological children, one adopted daughter and 2 step children that I helped raise too for a total of 6 children that I helped raise in addition to a God Daughter in Oregon. And I think my wife also has two other God Children as well.

If you want to see a really good movie of that era Romancing the Stone(1984) tells you a lot about the Zeitgeist of that era regarding the part that Michael Douglas plays and Kathleen Turner plays in this movie.

What is also interesting to me is that Danny DeVito was an old friend that he was room mates with on the East Coast when they were younger too. But by the time 1984 rolled around I think that Michael Douglas was around 40 by then but just really getting going on his Movie Career about this time and transferring over from "The STreets of San Francisco) which was a cop series on TV then.
