First you would have to know what the AI was planning. Then wherever the servers are that it is running out of need to either be shut down permanently or you need an EMP of sufficient size to shut down everything electrical in that area where the Electromagnetic pulse kills EVERYTHING electrical including Cars, Trucks Toasters, Electric cars and trucks computers toasters (EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL) in that area of the world.
But, in order to do this you have to know what AI is going to do next and it likely isn't going to tell you. It would just do it in the night about 2 to 4 am or when the least amount of people are awake all over the world or in the area where it would strike. This is logical to a fault and exactly how the AI would operate and execute it's plans and anyone in its way.
Unfortunately in order to kill enough of the AI you might have to have a nuke go off at 100,000 feet like a 100 megaton hydrogen bomb which might kill 1/3 to 1/2 of the population of the U.S. in order to stop it from killing everyone (at least here in the U.S.) by killing everything electrical above 10 feet underground you just might stop whatever the AI is doing then. But, nothing electrical that existed before the EMP would work ever again that is electrical.
The reason so many people might die is that anyone within 12 feet of anything metal very large would be instantly killed by a lightning bolt coming out of that metal from the EMP.
So, it would be sort of a "Death by your Toaster" kind of thing which is really crazy too. About as crazy as everyone dying from AI.
