Balance

 Balance

is different

at Every

Age

Whether you see this as physical balance or just how you eat or exercise or love in your life it's all about balance in life.

For example, I have always been a very coordinated person with perfect eyesight. So, I found myself at around 45 or 50 needing some kind of magnifier to read the small print on bottles or medicines. So, I kept in my wallet at first a little plastic magnifier the size of a business card that worked. But, over time I had to get stronger and stronger things to read the small print with.

By the time I had to get glasses for reading I found I couldn't read paper books any more because the print was too small so I gave that up. However, I found that for some reason I could read from my laptop (a 15 inch screen Macbook pro laptop that I bought in 2009. Then I bought another one in 2015 which I recently upgraded with a new rechargeable battery and screen and keyboard for around 600 to 700 dollars instead of buying a whole new Laptop macbook pro.

The point of all this is at every age there is new balance to be found. And it's difficult to grow older especially if you have been as coordinated and physical as I have been. However, adapting and finding your balance in all ways in the food you eat, in how you sleep, in how you exercise is important because as you age Your LIFE depends upon all these things as well as the medicines you take and the doctors and specialists you see in order to stay alive to 70 or 90 or 100 or more along the way.

So, at each and every point, balance in all ways is how one stays alive and copes with whatever life brings.

Balance

Sometimes

Medications

Can Kill

Sometimes

they save your lives

So, Balance is how you survive to old age.

However, finding that balance can be difficult as you age.

I have a friend who only takes one medication for pernicious anemia

Most of you wouldn't consider this a medicine but instead a vitamin.

However, B12 is both a vitamin and a medicine for many people.

Why?

Because as many people reach 40 or 50 their stomachs cannot process B12 from meat and other things.

But, without B12 your brain cannot function right and it is one of the causes of senile dementia and likely Alzheimers in older adults. Because without B12 your brain cannot function right.

So, by taking a subligual (under the tongue) B12 from trader Joe's or by getting regular B12 shots from your doctor you can keep your brain working better into old age.

However, this isn't why my friend takes it though this is likely helpful on this level too.

No. He takes it because he is a lifelong vegetarian and pernicious anemia is one of the results of a life of being a vegetarian in people. Most people prevent anemia by eating meat and fish. But then they get hardening of the arteries from especially pork and steaks over time.

I also was a vegetarian from 1948 until around 1980 when I believed the government was going to collapse so I was sort of a survivalist but I wasn't interested in the guns part of it only storing food in 50 gallon drums that wasn't perishable underground so that we would always have enough food no matter what happened to the government then.

However, what I didn't realize is that we had helped so many nations financially after World war II that they had become fast friends with us. So, when the Viet Nam WAr boondoggle bankrupted our government other nations loaned us money specifically Europe and Japan which allowed the U.S. not to go bankrupt then in the early 1980s.

So, I decided around 1980 because I thought the U.S. government was going to collapse and go bankrupt that I needed to make sure my family had food. So, we bought remote land, 2 1/2 acres in the forests of Mt. Shasta for around 8000 dollars then and I built my family a home where we wouldn't have to pay rent while we lived there only land taxes. This was a good survival idea for my family at the time. However, the government never collapsed because nations we had helped survive after World War II came to our aid and loaned the U.S. enough money to keep going. However, either way I was prepared at that time.

So, we did quite well throughout the 1980s because we had our home built and paid for in the forests of Mt. Shasta at around 4000 feet elevation. The snows could be 7 feet at a time then where our land was so I built an A-Frame in case we weren't there so the roof wouldn't collapse under the snow load of 7 feet or more snow.

Throughout all our lives we all are trying to get the right balance in our lives. If we don't find our balance along the way often we are soon gone from the earth (as in dead). So, finding your balance that allows you to live a life you can stand to live is everything in some ways here on earth.

Balance

2 steps forward one step back. As a life long mountain climber this is often the addage as you move up a mountain. Often the top up to 10,000 feet but usually 3,000 to 4,000 feet it is something like this with shale or other kinds of loose rock or snow where as you go forward 2 steps you often slide back one.

I think what we are experiencing (if we all survive it) is something like this. We are sliding back a step like we did during the 1930s to 1950 or so. Then, there was amazing progress from around 1950 until I would say 9-11-2001 where we began to slide backwards once again as a world civilization. And even though there are backslides it doesn't mean our impetus for moving forward subsides because always we are moving forwards even if we are sliding back a little.

It is about overcoming entropy and immobility more than anything else. It is sort of like starting out in a car the hardest part is to begin moving at all. But, once you are moving at 1 mile and hour or more increasing speed is relatively easy. Even in the days of Horses and carriages starting up was hard especially when those teams of horses were dragging cannons for warfare which are very heavy. It is one of the reasons roundabouts were created starting in England and Europe so the horses didn't have to stop but could move forward at at least 1 mile and hour or more even at a roundabout. This saved a lot of dead and injured horses trying to get their cannon loads moving from a standing stop.

So, this is what I believe is happening more than anything else on earth right now. People are scared and too much movement forward is terrifying too many people on earth. Those most freaked out appear to be 12th century Muslims and of those people like ISIS and Al Qaeda are the most freaked out and terrified by progress.

One can say that progress is good or bad and even I could argue on both sides of this issue forever without running out of things to say both pro and con regarding progress.

Because if progress is just cutting down all trees on earth and polluting the air and water so most people die I'm not for progress either if this is going to be true.

So, even progress has to be balanced by keeping the trees and water here on earth so people actually Want to be alive still.

Many places like Beijing and New Delhi right now it isn't worth being alive just because of air quality that kills 7 million at least every year.

So, stopping to think about what we are actually doing to Mother Earth is important if we expect any humans to survive at all the next 200 years here on earth.

Balance

I was reading the last article posted here and thinking about Climate Change.

It's all about balance. But not human balance. It's about our earth achieving the balance that it wants and we don't and likely won't like it at all. I'm always drawn back to the fact that the North pole's average temperature was once 76 degrees Fahrenheit and it looks like it might be returning there sometime in the next 500 years or so.

But, if we think about this what does this mean for humans?

It basically means a whole lot of poorer uneducated humans likely are going to die in storms, floods, droughts, earthquakes etc. along with some educated more technical ones too.

Because getting to 76 degrees Fahrenheit at the north pole is going to mean temperatures of 150 degrees or more during the summertime around the equator or higher. So, unless people live underground (as well as their crops) no plant life is going to be happy in temperatures that high except newer types of plants that might grow that might like that type of heat.

Already we have in California Great White Sharks that used to stay south of the border mostly in Mexico. But now, with warmer waters more and more are staying around San Diego and Los Angeles to feed on Seals and Sea lions which is their favorite food. They only attack surfers and swimmers because they think they are seals. That's what a surfboard looks like from underwater so often you see the bites out of surfboards or legs or arms or torsos.

Also, the poisonous sea snake found in Ventura (fairly far north of Los Angeles and San Diego) which also is surprising. Then there is someone I know personally that got malaria recently in Northern California while hunting or fishing likely from a mosquito or tick. It was confirmed by the CDC that he had malaria by the way.

So, what I'm saying here is balance won't be what humans want unless they live in Siberia and want it to be warmer, it will be what Earth's ecosystem demands instead.

So living around the equator during the summertime is likely to resemble living in hell more and more every year now and living in Siberia might be nicer every year from now on until the north pole is about like living in Hawaii in the summertime. Unfortunately, living in Hawaii by then will resemble living in hell too in the summers.

But, more than anything it is the heat and the winds that people are going to have trouble with. When winds are normal at 100 to 200 miles per hour various places around the earth, how are people going to raise food (and rain, sleet or snow hail at 100 to 200 miles per hour wouldn't just hurt it might rip your whole face off if you were out in it like large hail sometimes kills people in the Mid West.

I remember climbing San Gorgonio mountain near Palm Springs when I was about 21. When I reached the summit there was hail blowing at 100 plus miles an hour and my face started to bleed so I covered my face with plastic to survive this. Though it was loud it didn't cut my face anymore. (San Gorgonio is the highest peak in Southern California at over 11,000 feet.)

Balance

If Ebola isn't stopped by December or June we might be looking at a very different world in five or ten years. Possibly as different as 1929 was to 1950 worldwide. Humanity might continue but it likely would be different than now. Nature likes ecological balance and likely Ebola is an instrument of that balance of some kind. The real questions are:

1. Will civilization exist ten years from now?

2. As long as nukes aren't used humans (at least some) should be living here.

This is only logical.
