LIkely the atmosphere on earth by 2100 will be thick like it is now in Beijing, China and Seoul, South Korea so you might not even see the sun much everywhere on earth at that point. So, "Lost in Space" on Netflix may actually be our future as we move out into space in some ways.
So, having your kids watch this program likely will prepare them for the actual future many of them will actually wind up living later this century and for many centuries to come. The moon and Mars will likely be way stations to events like you see on Netflix in "Lost in Space".
