It has prevented human extinction so far at least.
How many floods and earthquakes and other mass events were predicted by tribes in the past through their shaman or shamaness who had this ability and moved their tribes to a safer place?
Without this ability on many levels countless families and whole tribes of people would have been wiped out completely thousands and thousands of years ago.
It's part of the "Good Karma" and long term survival of the human race that some have this inherited genetic ability and then choose (or are forced to by life and survival) to further develop these abilities and pass them on to their children too. And this has been happening now for hundreds of thousands of years if not for millions already.
