However, there is another issue which is that Iran (which is Shia Muslim predominantly) and Saudi Arabia (which is Sunni Muslim predominantly) have been sort of at war or have had a war like stance towards each other likely since just after World War I when Lawrence of Arabia helped establish Saudi Arabia in the first place.
And since Saudi Arabia has pumped more oil than most places on earth they are very rich and since Iran also has oil they are very rich too. So, you have these two nations ready now to buy nuclear weapons or to build them (both countries are rich enough to do either at this point if they haven't already). So, pushing Iran the way our government is presently is likely to create a real nightmare in Iran and Saudi Arabia much much worse than anything we have seen in Syria, Iraq, or Afghanistan so far or even Libya. In addition to this the price of oil likely could go as high as 200 to 300 dollars a barrel which will starve countless people worldwide because gas and diesel is used to farm and to transport food to market which then makes food beyond the capacity of the poor to buy at all.
So, bullying Iran the way our government is doing now is counterproductive to the Middle East and future peace AND preventing nuclear war from breaking out between Iran and Saudi Arabia sometime in the near or far future.
All this is getting worse and worse and I fear a war on the level of World War II in the middle east coming from the ignorance of people in the U.S. and European Governments and in the way they are handling all this so far.
Europe has the most to fear from radiation pouring across the Mediterranean ocean on the ocean and in the air. African and Middle Eastern nations should be very afraid right now too regarding nukes or "dirty bombs" going off throughout the middle east.
