Water:its plentiful as long as you are near an ocean or lake. If you have ever been out of sight of land in an ocean like I have and can see only water in all directions, the amount of water is overwhelming.
In molecules 2 hydrogen atoms attach themselves to 1 Oxygen atom to make water which is a pretty stable substance(even though it both freezes and vaporizes at certain temperatures). However, if we separate the hydrogen and oxygen through direct current electricity(for example your 12 volt car battery) the hydrogen and oxygen can then be burnt directly by your car or truck or boat engine and it is relatively safe because you are burning it right after separating it into hydrogen and oxygen. After it burns up in your engine some of it turns back into water. However, it is better to use distilled water to avoid mineral buildup in your engine.
For example just go to youtube and type in burning water to watch salt water burn after it is hit with certain radio frequencies. This would be great for steam engines like those used on ships still. or type in "run your car with water" and you will see some
more stuff about people showing you how to run your car on water. However, you might also see "Stan Meyer" killed for running car on water.
People who are now building commercial prototypes are being disappeared would be a polite term for it. The problem is that water is basically free and no one has figured a way yet to monopolize it for themselves as a fuel.
This then becomes the main problem.IF WE MAKE WATER AN ENERGY SOURCE SOMEONE IS GOING TO FIND A WAY TO MONOPOLIZE IT AS A BUSINESS! This is why most people teaching other people to make their cars run on water are not building prototypes because they don't want to be killed by oil produces, Auto manufacturers worldwide or governments who don't want people to have free energy sources for a variety of reasons.
For example, what if a group, say terrorists perfected water burning vehicles and converted all their vehicles to water and then decided to set all oilwells on fire.
This is why governments are afraid of free water to energy conversions. They are not afraid of mom and pop converting the family car or truck so they can go buy food and not die of starvation. The problem is that all energy sources tend to cause wars one way or another. It has been this way ever since gasoline and diesel and plane and jet fuel was invented and used. All these fuels and access to them decide who wins and loses wars.
Why did Germany lose World War II? One of the biggest reasons is that all their oil sources were cut off. Any nation that loses all their oil for a few months would collapse.
So if water technologies which allow conversion in to free hydrogen and oxygen this is potentially destabilizing factor for all nations on earth. Because free world nations led by the US are battling terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan and indirectly in Pakistan and Iran this becomes a far reaching problem.
So, in the meantime convert your cars, tractors, trucks and even light planes to run on water or a water gasoline mix(hydrogen, gasoline, oxygen) so you can still drive to work and buy food and live and eat. However, also be aware of this getting into the wrong hands too.
And yes, the US military is already converting vehicles to run direct on Hydrogen and oxygen and multiple other fuels so they can easily switch to whatever fuel is easily available in times of emergency.
