Migraine Headaches and Politics

I was interested in Hearing Sanjay Gupta (a brain surgeon who is a CNN contributor on TV) speak about Migraine headaches in regard to Michelle Bachman, the Tea Party Republican Presidential contender.

He said some things I had never heard before. He said that there is a medicine one can take to avoid migraines completely but that it sometimes has side affects. He also said that one has an "Aura" before a migraine comes on (much like before a Epileptic Seizure) so they can tell when one is trying to come on. He said that being in a darkened room for several days can calm the person down enough so they can function again after a severe migraine attack.

So, after hearing what he had to say made me think that migraine's if they aren't hereditary might also be caused by blows to the head like all childhood epilepsy is. And it sounds like to me that it is caused by misfiring of neurons or overabundance of electrical activity in the brain caused by various types of stimulation or lack of it.

If it is actually related in a minor way to epilepsy then likely some of the methods of avoiding migraines might be similar to people I have met who were epileptics. The methods of avoiding an epileptic seizure that I was told were number one: screaming to release the over abundance of electrical current in the brain and neurons or two: sexual activity to release the over abundance of electrical current in the brain. So, hopefully some of what I have said here will be useful during the research process for any of you who have either migraines or epilepsy or both.

note: Sanjay Gupta has migraine headaches which is why he knows so much about them. Also, I did have Childhood Blunt Trauma epilepsy from ages 10 to 15 so I know something about that as well.
