Voter Partisanship Soars

Poll: Voter Partisanship Soars

Poll: Voter Partisanship Soars

A new poll released Tuesday by the Pew Research Center shows American voters are more divided than ever when it comes to political ideology. The poll, which began in 1987, marks an 18-point disparity in value-related issues between Republicans and Democrats, up from just 11 percent in 2003. The poll has jumped in recent years: in 2009 it was 16 percent before reaching its highest level this year. One pollster said that “the parties are more polarized than” ever before in the 25 years of the poll. The poll also showed that a growing number of Americans identify as independents (38 percent) compared to Democrats (32 percent) or Republicans (24 percent).

I don't think the level of partisanship is any accident. I think it mostly comes from psychological manipulation by the very wealthy in any nation. When money is flowing like it is in this election there can only be corruption as a result of the news and of the coverage you will see everywhere. This tends to enrage the populace in two directions and from manipulated news on both sides nothing is accomplished. Because Democracy can't exist without compromise. When there is no compromise you wind up with either Fascism or Totalitarian Communism or an outright dictator of some kind. Without useful compromise no Democracy will long exist. What rises quickly without compromise is a police state of some kind.

I fear for our democracy more this year than any year I have been alive since 1948. I hope  our democracy survives this year the way this partisanship is going. (Civil War 2?) I hope not.

Also, at this point I also identify more with independents more than any party. In the end if we destroy the fabric of our nation by being too stubborn who will save us then?
