3 weeks to one month after beginning Spironolact as a medication

Mostly spironolact has increased my quality of life a lot. No more swelling of feet and lower legs from Edema and a general ongoing loss of about 10 pounds of extra water weight. This keeps a lot of extra pressure off my heart in pumping blood and I feel a whole lot younger and stronger in a variety of ways. The only drawbacks so far is that I feel colder because winter is coming on likely from the loss of the water weight which might have held my warmth along with causing me problems through edema. The other thing I have noticed is that my heart the last few days is beating in unusual ways and I feel a little elated which might be either because the Christmas season has started and people are giving a lot more prayers worldwide which I always feel but also I wonder exactly how my heart and body are doing with all these changes inside me.

If you are considering getting your doctor to prescribe Spironolact for Edema while having heart problems as you age, be aware how important it is to have a blood test when you first start taking this medication. Because if your potassium in your body gets too high while taking this medicine your heart can suddenly stop beating. So, this should be considered an important consideration too.

However, given all that, this medicine (so far) has amazingly increased the general quality of my life and alertness and I actually want to walk with my dogs further and further while hiking in the nearby forest trails with redwoods and ferns and other trees which should only increase my overall health ongoing.

Spironolact also tends to prevent morbidity which just means it will reduce your chances of dying from Edema related heart problems.
